!!!Please note the KS2 software will not run on VISTA!!!!

This fantastic CD ROM will really get your pupils interested in the mechanisms around them as well as motivated in their project work. It covers KS2 D&T units moving monsters, moving toys and fairground rides.

3 robot characters Clink, Clank and Clunk guide the children through the CD ROM in a fun and informative way. Divided into two main sections, the first one looks at mechanisms, explaining what they are, how they work and where they are used in every day machines. It also looks at types of motion and gives a short history of ancient mechanisms and the first machine. Included is a section on technical words explaining what they mean. This will help your pupils build up a technical vocabulary which really does underpin their understanding of D&T and the engineering skills it encompasses.

The second main section has a large gallery of videos showing all the different mechanisms at work in a whole variety of automata and mechanical toys. This helps make the connection between the first section and it's relevance to project work, especially the moving toys project. Also included are four short videos explaining what automata are, simple hints and tips on designing, a more detailed look at both pneumatics and moving monsters, pulleys, gears, electric motors and their use in the fairground ride project.

The CD-ROM has over an hour of video helping to bring to life the projects your pupils will be working on, as well as giving them a positive ITC experience. It also fulfils the statutory requirement for using ITC in a program of study.

We have a book "How to design and make simple Automata" which gives teachers an insight on mechanisms and simple engineering principles related to moving toys.
